I installed the Smart FTP program, but was unable to find any .htaccess file on my Netfronts site. It is possible to change the message or redirect from the web provider control panel. There are instructions for creating a .htaccess file also. For now, I didn't change anything.
Search Engine -
Using the Simple Search perl script, configured and uploaded search.pl to the cgi-bin in ASCII mode. Also set permissions using CHMOD. The Search Engine form is at the bottom of this page.
Redirect
I have a redirect in place at my previous site to change to the present site. The original site is here and this page has
browser redirect.
PHP
I installed PHPstat and created a folder called phpstat in the server base directory. After uploading all files to this folder, I changed permissions. Using WSftp, I never found a way to change permissions using CHMOD with a number. To set the permission to 666, I used SmartFTP.
I have also installed the link checker script to the linkcheck folder on the class site for this term. For the moment, I am calling both PHP scripts from this page. linkcheck
Browser Resize
I have created the Javascript sceen size viewer pages and have them bookmarked. This is a great tool as students design their pages to different resolutions, and it makes viewing much nicer to have the proper specs - especially when I keep my screen at 800 x 600 and have to scroll to see a page designed for 1024 x 768. (My preference is to design to 800 x 600 as it is still the most popular.)
